11-Foot Washing Craft For Kids

If you have a little one who loves crafting, this is the perfect project for them.

This giant laundry person is fun and easy to make, so you can make it with your kids on a cold or rainy day!

Prepare A Clean And Empty Milk Carton

Make sure the carton is clean and dry.

You can use a paper towel to wipe it down with water or put it in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or so if you want to make sure there’s nothing left on there that could get in your food when you cook with it later.

Wash out the inside of the carton thoroughly too (it’s likely that you’ll be using this as part of an activity where kids will put their hands inside). Now you’re ready to turn it into a boat!

Have Your Child Draw A Face On The Milk Carton

Use markers, crayons, or paint. The face should be happy and proportionate.

The eyes should be about halfway up the height of the head and spaced evenly apart.

The mouth should be smaller than the eyes and smiley rather than frowny! If you are using crayons, make sure they are not too dark or light as this will affect how long it takes to dry before painting over them with more paint, which will take longer than you might expect (and could end up causing frustration).

Paint The Milk Carton With The Color Of Your Choice

As a kid, I always loved painting milk cartons. When I was young and had no idea what a “canvas” or “art gallery” were, this was my go-to method for creativity.

I loved how easily the paint washed off of the milk carton and how long it took for the paint to dry.

I still like to do this today because it is quick and easy and leaves little mess behind! For kids who aren’t quite ready for painting on canvas yet, this is a great way for them to get started!

Color Of Your Choice

Use the color of your choice to paint some clothes on your giant laundry person.

If you want to make your giant laundry person look like it has clothes on, you can use any color of paint you want. Some people prefer using a sponge to apply the paint and others prefer using a brush or roller. You can also use a sprayer if that’s what you have available!

Cut Out A Hat For Your Giant Laundry Person

Now that you have the body of your giant laundry person ready, it’s time to make them a hat.

Use a piece of paper as a template for the shape and then use a ruler to draw the shape on construction paper.

Cut out the hat with a pair of scissors and then glue it onto the head of your giant laundry person.

Now You’ll Have To Cut Out Some Feet For Your New Friend

Now you’ll have to cut out some feet for your new friend.

  • Use a ruler and pencil to trace two feet on the cardboard.
  • Cut out the pieces using scissors.

Now It’s Time To Dress Up

Now it’s time to dress up your giant laundry friend with an apron, a scarf and some gloves.

To make the scarf, cut out two pieces of felt that are each 11 inches by six inches (so they’re about twice as long as the front of the washing craft). Pin them right sides together along one edge and sew up both sides. Turn right side out and press flat with an iron.

Then fold it in half lengthwise so you have a long strip of fabric folded in half—this will be easier than trying to sew a circle!

Pin it around one end of your washing craft so that it covers his neck area on top but doesn’t go down too far; then sew along where pinned on either side to secure it in place.

Now make him an apron by cutting out two rectangles from fabric measuring 14 inches by 13 inches (his chest area). Fold each one over once lengthwise so they become four-inch-wide strips—these should look like belts or ties when folded over like this! Sew these onto either side of his body just below where his arms are attached—you might want to leave enough room for him to take over our dirty clothes if he has to do some extra chores later on!

Finally, turn socks inside out and pull into fingerless gloves by stuffing loosely with polyfill before sewing across back seam closed securely at wrist/heel area only using a straight stitch or zigzag stitch machine settings.”

The Finishing Touch Is To Add Socks

The finishing touch is to add socks and shoes to your giant laundry person’s feet. You can use socks and shoes you have around the house, or simply make some using yarn.

To make a pair of knee-high socks.

  • Cut four pieces of yarn about 12 inches long each.
  • Fold each piece in half and tie them together at one end with a knot that goes under one loop (this will help keep them from slipping off).

Twist the ends together until they are all twisted together into one piece of yarn again, then tie another knot on top so they stay twisted together and don’t unravel while you’re knitting with them later on!

This second knot should go over both loops so it stays secure when you wear them around your ankles too; just remember where this second set of loops was before cutting off any excess length after tying off your final knot–those extra few inches will come in handy later!
