11 Ice Cream Crafts For Kids

It’s summer and it’s time to let your kids have a little fun.

This is the perfect time for some ice cream-themed crafts. Not only will they have fun creating them, but you can also take these crafts outside for a little ice cream party.

The Kids Will Love Creating These Ice Cream Crafts

These ice cream crafts are perfect for summertime.

They’re easy to make, fun to create, and inexpensive. Kids will love making these ice cream crafts. They’re great for parties, camps and day camps!

Ice Cream Cone Sewing Cards

Using a sketch or template, draw the ice cream cone shape on heavy paper or cardstock.

Cut out the ice cream cone shape.

Punch two holes in each side of the ice cream cone shape and thread string through the holes to make a necklace.

Have your child glue small items such as beads, buttons, and googly eyes onto their necklace to make it look like an ice cream cone!

Ice Cream Cone Garland

To make your Ice Cream Cone Garland, you’ll need

  • a bunch of ice cream cones (preferably waffle cones)
  • coordinating ribbon or twine
  • scissors, paper cutter, or sharp knife to cut the ribbon/twine into desired lengths.

You can hang this garland anywhere! The wall behind your bed would be perfect for sleeping with ice cream dreams.

Or in the kitchen above your computer where you can eat it while working on baking blog posts about how to make cute things like this one. Or maybe over your dining room table if you’re having guests over for ice cream sundaes and want to let them know that you’re serving some serious dessert realness…

Ice Cream Cone Prints

Using an ice cream cone printable, you can make a fun craft for your kids.

You can use crayons or markers to color the cones and then use a pom pom maker to make the sprinkles. If you want to add glitter, that would be awesome too!

Once everything is colored in the way you like it, let your child apply a glue stick on top of each sprinkle and place it on top of their ice cream creation.

Handprint Ice Cream Cones

To make these, you will need

  • ice cream cones (you can buy them or make your own!)
  • paintbrushes for each color you plan on using

Lego Ice Cream Sundae

This is a fun way to use up some of your kid’s old Legos. This ice cream sundae is intended for younger kids,

but it can be made with any size Lego blocks that you have on hand.

Materials

  • A small plastic container (the bottom of a yogurt container works well)
  • Some ice cream cones or cups from an ice cream shop (if you don’t have any, you could make your own!)
  • Some Legos!

Origami Ice Cream Cone

Use this origami ice cream cone craft to show your kids how to make a simple, yet cute, paper cone for their ice cream.

  • Origami Ice Cream Cone Instructions:
  • Fold the paper in half diagonally.

Twist the left corner to overlap it with the right corner of your fold and press them together firmly. This should create a point at the center of your folded paper that you can now use as an anchor point when attaching other pieces to make an icicle shape.

If you don’t have any origami paper lying around, try using construction paper or poster board instead! They’re both easy to find at most supermarkets or office supply stores—and they’re cheap too!

Origami Ice Cream Cone Template (PDF): No matter how careful we try not to be as parents, sometimes our kids still spill things like milk and juice on their clothes—and when they do it’s nice knowing we have something like this handy so we can immediately clean up their messes without worrying about ruining anything else with bleach or other harsh chemicals.

Watercolor Popsicle Art

What you need, Watercolor paints, Paper plates

Popsicle sticks (or craft sticks) of various colors and sizes. You can also use different colors of paint to make your popsicles. A thin paintbrush works well for this project.

Paintbrushes in a variety of sizes and shapes (optional, but fun!)What to do: * Lay out some paper plates on a table or countertop for your child to work on. If your child isn’t quite ready for working with brushes yet, try using cotton swabs or Q-tips instead—they’re easier tools for little hands!

Pour out some watercolor paints onto one plate (or set up separate plates with different colors). If you don’t have enough paint for each color, you could use food coloring instead—just be sure to test it first!

Rainbow Ice Cream Slime

The best part about this craft is that you can use food coloring to dye the slime in different colors! You can also use a variety of colors or even different shades of the same color.

For example, if you want your ice cream to be rainbow-colored but still match the “rainbow” theme, then use red and blue food coloring for one batch and yellow and purple for another batch.

The next step is to mix up your batch of slime until it turns into a solid mass: once it reaches that consistency, add in some sprinkles.

(or whatever else floats your boat) and knead them into the slime by hand until they are evenly distributed throughout it. Once all is said and done with this step—and I mean all—it’s time for dessert!

Magnet Board Ice Cream Shop

  • Use a magnet board to create an ice cream shop.
  • Place magnets on the magnet board in the shape of an ice cream shop.
  • Use markers (or crayons) to write the names of different cones, toppings and flavors for each cone as shown in the image above.

Felt Ice Cream Crafts

Felt ice cream cones are a great way to use up scraps of felt. They’re also easy to make and can be used for so many things!

For example, you can use them as magnets

First, cut out a cone shape from your felt. Next, pin the cone onto another piece of felt (don’t worry about getting it straight at this point).

Cut around the bottom edge of your first piece so that when you flip over your second piece and sew along its bottom edge with a sewing machine or needle and thread, you’ll have an open circle where you can slide in some magnets.

If sewing isn’t really your thing, no worries! You can always glue pieces together instead—it might not look quite as professional but will work just fine!

Paper Roll Ice Cream Cones

This is a great craft for kids who love to draw.

They can use the paper cone as a puppet, or mask and wear it. It can also be used as a prop in a play or movie.

Conclusion

Ice cream is such an easy, fun way to celebrate the warmer months. These crafts and treats will definitely put a smile on your kid’s faces this summer – enjoy!
