Turkey Hat Craft for Kids

Materials.

  • Black, yellow and white construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Directions:

Cut out a large oval shape from the black construction paper. This will be your turkey’s body. Cut another large oval shape out of the yellow construction paper, but make it slightly smaller than your first oval so that when you put them together they form a circle. Leave one small piece of yellow leftover for later use on top of your hat’s headband.

Now cut out two long triangles from white construction paper (they should be slightly smaller than both ovals). These will serve as wings for your bird! Now glue these triangles onto either side of its body using glue or tape.*

Begin by painting the paper plate with a bold, primary color of acrylic paint. We used red, but you could use any color you’d like!

Let your child arrange some feathers on their hat using a glue gun and stapler (where appropriate) –

Now for the fun part let’s decorate our hats with leaves!

Try using a hole punch or just cutting them out with scissors if you don’t have one nearby; we used three different types of leaves in our Turkey Hat Craft For Kids, but there are tons more varieties out there to experiment with – see what happens when you try something new!

Turkey Hat Craft for Kids

Turkey hat crafts are easy activities you can do with your kids this Thanksgiving. Using a paper plate, feathers, and some paint, you can create a turkey hat for your child to wear to the dinner table.

This is also a great craft to do at a Thanksgiving party or home school project!

Materials.

  • 1 Paper Plate (can be used as a template)
  • Feathers
  • Paint & Paint Brushes

Print out the pattern onto paper or use it as a template that you cut out. Cut out 2 circles from the hat shape templates and glue them together to make one large circle on top of another small circle.

Use a scissor or Exacto knife to cut around the outer edge so that it is smooth and even with no jagged edges left over when both pieces are glued together perfectly flat against each other’s surfaces; then glue onto a surface area where the head would rest inside of hat (either side depending on what kind of design you want).

Next, take another piece of paper (or cardboard) and trace around the bottom border lines so that 4 equal sides are making up the surface area underneath where the neck will rest inside of the hat (either side depending on what kind

Paper Plate With Feathers

A Turkey hat using a paper plate with feathers spread out is a fun craft to make at a Thanksgiving party or home school project!

Glue feathers onto the paper plate using a glue gun or glue stick, leaving some space between each feather for glitter to be added later in step 4.

Cut out eyes from black construction paper, then glue them to the front of your Turkey Hat with a glue gun or glue stick (you can also use white paint and a paintbrush). Add eyebrows with a black marker if desired!

Thanksgiving Turkey Hats

You will need.

  • Craft sticks (or toothpicks, or popsicle sticks)
  • Green and yellow tissue paper or crepe paper
  • Scissors
  • Directions

To make the turkey, cut three pieces of paper that are each about 8 by 10 inches. The piece on top should be green. Cut out two ovals for eyes from yellow tissue or crepe paper.

Roll up the sides of the green piece so they look like feathers and tape them down with masking tape. Tape your eyepieces on top of the rolled-up feathers with double-sided tape so they’re secure but still moveable if you want to change them later!
