11 Beaded Cross Necklace Craft For Kids

Cross necklaces are one of the most popular jewelry items among women.

It is also a symbol of faith for some people. If you are looking for some unusual ways to make a cross necklace, this article will help you find several options that you can use or share with your kids.

Cross and Hearts

Use a variety of colors

  • Use different types of beads (perler beads, seed beads, etc.)
  • Use different types of string (silk, hemp twine)
  • Use different shapes (crosses, hearts) for your beadwork. You could also use shapes cut from cardboard or fabric and then bead over the shape or paint it with fabric dye.

I encourage you to experiment with a variety of materials and sizes when making cross necklaces!

White and Pink

White and pink beads.

A string of beads.

Scissors to cut the string, a needle and thread to sew it together, or use glue if you want to make a quick project.

A cross pendant (optional) that can be attached by sewing or gluing it on top of your beadwork piece. It’s also possible for kids to wear this necklace without the cross pendant since it’s still beautiful in its own way with just the beads placed side by side in an orderly fashion!

Wooden Cross Beads

Wooden cross beads are a great choice for kids’ crafts because they’re super easy to find and paint.

They can be purchased at craft stores and online, but if you have access to an old cross necklace or just have some wooden beads laying around that you want to use instead, then you can probably get started right away!

Unlike other types of crosses, these don’t require anything special in terms of materials or tools—you’ll just need acrylic paint (the kind kids usually use is fine), some water-based sealant (like Mod Podge), string or twine, and any small objects you’d like to add in the center (like buttons). You might also want a hot glue gun if you want the pieces glued together permanently.

Vintage Cross

Get your hands on some vintage cross beads, which can be found at many craft stores or flea markets. If you don’t have any, you can make your own out of felt and fabric glue (here’s how).

Cut a piece of silver chain that is about three times longer than the length of your necklace and attach it to one end with jump rings or wire-wrapped loops.

Attach all the beads onto the chain using jump rings or wire-wrapped loops so that they are evenly spaced apart from each other, then secure them together by looping one end through another until there is no slack left in the chain.

Cross and Heart Harm

Make a cross necklace with a heart charm. This is the simplest of all the projects on this list! All you need to do is make a piece of beadwork that looks like an upside-down cross, then string it onto some cord or ribbon.

Make a cross necklace with a cross charm. To create this piece of beadwork, simply change up the shape of your beadwork from an upside-down cross to more of an X shape (or Xs, if you want).

Make a heart charm for your child’s cross necklace. You can use different colors and sizes for each side of the heart if you’d like to make it look more interesting. This project doesn’t require any complex beading techniques; anyone can do it! Just follow these simple steps: Cut out two circles from cardboard or foam board in two different sizes (one big enough for both sides of your heart, one small enough that it fits inside).

Glue one side onto each circle so they’re facing away from each other when viewed together at eye level; let dry overnight so they stay put.* Once dry, take your scissors and cut around both pieces until there’s only about 1/4″ (6mm) remaining between them—this will allow them to hinge when worn as part of jewelry.

Affix one side onto each circle again using glue or tape; let dry completely before continuing on with this step.

Take off any excess glue by gently rubbing over where they were glued together while still wet–this should leave only tiny dots where they were joined together.

Use chain nose pliers or small wire cutters (depending on whether or not there are any sharp edges left after taking off excess glue) to twist open loops along all four edges where beads will be placed so they don’t fall off quickly when worn around the neck. String beads onto wire in order shown here according

Pendant Cross Beads With Silver Chain

This is a great cross necklace craft for kids, especially if they are just beginning to learn their colors and letters.

If you have a child who loves to play dress up or pretend, this would be the perfect way to encourage that habit. Following the instructions below, your child can make a cross necklace using beads, a silver chain, and a pendant cross bead.

The first step in making this craft is to get out all of the materials needed for it. You’ll need:

  • Beads (you can use any type of beads)
  • Silver Chain (it should be at least 18-inches long)

You’ll also need scissors or wire cutters so that your child can make sure that they don’t accidentally cut themselves while making this craft! Lastly but not leastly you’ll need some threading material such as embroidery floss or string so your child has something flexible enough when working with small pieces like these

Aqua Blue Beaded Cross Necklace

Materials.

  • blue and white beads (can be silver or gold)
  • chain
  • beading needle, glue, and scissors

Directions.

Take the chain and cut it into three equal pieces. These will be used to make a triangle pendant. Each piece should be as long as your child’s chest measurement plus 1/2 inch for seam allowance (see below). The seam allowance allows room for attaching the pendant to a necklace later on.

Once you have cut your chains into three even pieces, thread them through a beading needle with two blue beads on each end of the chain; repeat this step until all three chains are threaded with eight blue beads total.

If you do not know how to thread a needle with small items such as these beads, ask an adult for help!

You can also use glue instead of sewing if you would like but this may change how much weight is added overall when finished so keep that in mind before making any decisions about what materials to use on future projects such as these cross necklaces which require sewing skills within order become successful craftsmen/women who are able to create beautiful pieces when given the proper guidance from instructors like myself!

Wood Bead Cross Necklace With Hemp String

Materials.

  • wood beads in assorted sizes and shapes, with one larger bead for the cross to rest on (we used a 10 mm wooden bead)
  • hemp twine, or other rope-like material that won’t break when stretched over your head (twine is what we used!)

Using a craft knife, make two cuts on either side of your biggest bead so it can slide onto another piece of twine. Cut two pieces of twine at least four feet long and tie them around each end of your biggest bead. Try it on to make sure it fits comfortably around your neck.

You might need to adjust the length by adding or removing inches from one piece of twine before tying off both ends together with a square knot—this should be easy since you’re working with such thick material!

Black, White And Silver Beaded Cross Necklace

Materials

  • Black, white and silver beads (size 8)
  • Silver chain (size 8 or 10)
  • Silver cross bead (size 8)
  • Silver clasp

Procedure.

Cut the black, white, and silver thread into lengths of 30 inches each. Thread through a needle and knot at one end to make a loop for your necklace. Create a knot at the other end so that you can hang it on your neck after it’s done!

Attach the first row to your chain by sewing through each hole from front to back with stitch 1 in this sequence: black, white then silver; alternate colors every other round until completed; tie off ends with knots on the inside of the charm holder before moving onto next step!

Add the second row making sure there are no gaps between beads since they won’t fit otherwise – continue working until the entire area looks full enough then tie off ends with knots again before moving on to the next step! 🙂
