7 Canoe Craft For Kids

7 Canoe Craft For Kids

Introduction

I love canoeing and it’s a great way to spend time with my girls. But sometimes we need ideas for how to do something different with our canoes. That’s why I’ve put together this list of 7 Canoe Craft For Kids that you can make from the comfort of your own home!

1. Glitter Canoe Craft

Materials:

  • cardboard box
  • glitter glue in various colors
  • paintbrush
  • large spoon (optional)

Instructions:

  • Cover your cardboard box with a single layer of glitter glue. As you go, gently tap the paintbrush on the side of the container to remove excess glitter. Let dry for at least an hour or two before adding another coat. You may need more than one layer depending on how thick you want it to look!
  • If desired, take a large spoon and press it into the back side of your canoe craft so that you can use it as a display stand at home, or on a table at school/camp during outdoor playtime!

2. Birch Bark Canoe Craft for Kids

Birch Bark Canoe Craft for Kids

  • Materials:
  • Birch bark (found in the spring, where it peels from the trunk of a birch tree)
  • Instructions:
  • Lay out your birch bark on a flat surface and cut into pieces with an Xacto knife or kitchen shears. Make sure that each piece has enough size to cover one side of your canoe. You will also need to cut holes for your paddles as well as an opening for you to enter and exit the canoe craft. If you want, you can add decorative patterns like stripes or circles on each piece before cutting them apart.
  • When all of your pieces have been cut into strips, take some glue or adhesive tape and stick them onto cardboard or any other type of sturdy material so they don’t get flattened while working with them later on (this step is optional). You may also want to apply some waterproof paint over top once everything dries completely so it doesn’t get too wet while being used outdoors during rainy weather conditions!

3. Rainstick Paper Towel Tube Canoe Craft

  • Paper towel tube
  • Glue
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Marker (optional)
  • Craft stick (or pencil, chopstick or pen)
  • Cut a 4 inch wide strip of craft foam for the seat and glue it to the bottom of your paper towel roll. Make sure it’s centered so that you can sit comfortably when paddling your canoe. 2. Using a marker draw five lines on your paper towel tube at varying heights: 9 inches, 6 1/2 inches, 3 1/2 inches, 1 3/4 inches and 1 inch from the top edge of your tube as shown in picture #1 below (this will be where you will cut out pieces later). Be sure to leave at least ¼” between each mark because if you cut too close together then it might not hold together well when folding back over itself! Put another mark about ¼” away from these five marks so that you know how deep each cut needs to be. You could also just measure this distance with something like a ruler but we found it easier just drawing straight lines instead! 3 . Take one end off first by cutting through along all 5 lines using scissors until there is only half left attached at both ends then repeat on other end until just one long piece remains that connects both sides together – see picture 2 below!

4. Popsicle Stick Canoe for Kids

  • Popsicle stick canoe: You’ll need popsicle sticks (obviously), a glue gun and a marker to draw your canoe on the wood. Then you can paint it with acrylic paint and seal it with some clear gloss varnish.
  • Paper plate canoe: Use an old paper plate with the center cut out of it to make this craft! Paint the inside of your boat and add details like decorations, flags or even stickers!
  • Crayon canoe: You can use crayons as a material for making your own boat! Use them to create different designs on cardboard or other materials that you want.\

5. Beaded Canoe Suncatcher

If you have kids, you know how important it is for them to learn their colors. This beaded canoe suncatcher craft teaches your child about the different colors of a boat and how they relate to the water.

Materials:

  • A piece of cardboard or poster board cut into a canoe shape
  • Small colored beads and string

Instructions:

  • Tie a piece of string around each end of your cardboard canoe so you can hang it from the ceiling or outside later on!
  • Attach beads along each side of your canoe by pushing them through one hole at a time using an awl (or something sharp like an ice pick). Make sure that there are no gaps between beads in case water should leak inside through damaged areas later on (if this happens). You may want to use tape as well just in case any parts start falling off while they’re drying out after being painted/glued together with hot glue gun adhesive onto another surface such as metal mesh sheets used for aquariums placed directly underneath where children will gaze up at night when going to sleep!

6. Recycled Cardboard Simple Canoe Craft

Materials needed:

  • Cardboard, the thicker the better (e.g., cereal boxes or soda crates)
  • Scissors or box cutter (cut out the shape of your canoe)
  • Ruler to help measure where to cut and draw lines across the cardboard (you could also use an old ruler as long as it’s not too rusty)

How to make:

  • Cut two pieces of cardboard at least 24” long and 12” wide. If you are using a rectangular piece of cardboard, draw a line down its center lengthwise; this will be used for folding later on.
  • Fold one piece of your cut cardboard in half lengthwise along its center line so that you have two sheets instead of one sheet with four sides; this creates more strength when folded into shape later on because each side will now be joined together by another side rather than just being glued together by itself!

7. Paper Plate Canoe Craft For Kids

Paper plate canoe craft is a fun activity that can be enjoyed by children of all ages. It’s simple to make, and kids will love the simplicity of this activity. Paper plates can also be used to create boats or canoes if you have more than one child creating an object together. You could decorate your paper plate boat or canoe with paint, markers, glitter or even stickers!

You are never too old for arts and crafts! For those who enjoy nature walks and collecting leaves, twigs and other natural materials on your outings – why not take advantage of some time spent away from electronics as well?
