7 Fun Easy Activities For 5-Year-Olds

Kids are naturally creative, and their creative side is usually at its peak around the age of 5. They love to express their creativity in different ways, like drawing and coloring.

One activity that you can do with your kids is watching a movie together. You can even make it more fun by playing a game and letting them guess the plot of the movie using only visuals, no audio!

This will teach them how movies tell stories through pictures instead of words!

Fun Easy Activities For 5-Year-Olds

You can try a bunch of activities with your five-year-old. Here are some ideas.

  • Use a variety of materials
  • Use a variety of colors
  • Use a variety of textures
  • Use a variety of shapes (triangles, circles, squares)
  • Use a variety of sizes (smaller than the palm but bigger than the thumb)
  • Use sounds that you hear around you in everyday life -the sound made by opening and closing doors and windows; talking on the telephone; music on your radio or TV; cars passing by in the street outside your house

Water Paint

Water paint is easy to make and a great way for kids to learn about mixing colors. It’s also good for getting your child involved in art projects.

What You’ll Need.

  • Food coloring or water-soluble markers (if you’re using markers, use the non-permanent kind)
  • A container with a lid that can close tightly

How To Make Water Paint,

  • Add food coloring until you get the color you want. If you’re using markers, add one drop at a time until it’s dark enough that it will show up on paper when you draw with it. If not, just add some water at a time until your liquid reaches the desired consistency. If it gets too thin then just add more color!

Indoor Bowling

Cut out a circle from the lid of a plastic shoe box and use it as your bowling ball. Get a ping pong ball, put it in a large plastic cup and fill it with water (not too much though).

Then you can make holes at the bottom of the cup to allow for drainage when you’re finished playing.

Fill another bowl with water for your pins (you can add glitter if you like). You may need more than one bowl depending on how many kids are playing because this game goes quickly!

Let everything dry completely before putting your balls away into a bag so they don’t get damaged or dirty during storage time between play dates with friends and family members who love fun games just like yours does too!

Building Blocks

Playing with building blocks is a great way to spend time with your 5-year-old. Building blocks are great for learning shapes, colors, and numbers.

They can be used to make a house or castle or even a rocket! If you don’t have any building blocks at home, go out and buy some! You’ll love watching your child play with them as much as they do.

Sand Box Games

Playing in the sandbox is another fun activity that can teach children about shapes, colors, and numbers through games like castle building and tower making.

Coloring

You can ask your child to color with crayons, colored pencils, and markers. Coloring is a great activity for kids of all ages.

The best part about it is that it doesn’t require much skill or any prior training.

You can also try out watercolor, paint, chalk, and glitter glue on paper to see if your child likes these mediums more than the previous ones listed above. If you want him/her to learn how to create art in an organized fashion then try painting by numbers as well!

Ice Cubes

Kids are naturally creative, and their creative side is usually at its peak around the age of 5. They love to express their creativity in different ways, like drawing and coloring. One activity that you can do with your kids is watching a movie together.

You can even make it more fun by playing a game and let them guess the plot of the movie using only visuals, no audio! This will teach them how movies tell stories through pictures instead of words!

Ice cubes are a great way to make your child’s day. They can be used for many different activities and they’re very easy to make! If you have some spare time, why not make some ice cubes with your child?

What you can do with ice cubes.

Make a maze.   You can use the ice cube tray as a base for making mazes by drawing lines on it. Kids will love watching their parents’ creations melt away!

Make an ice sculpture.  If you want something more interesting than just regular old squares and circles, then this is the way to do it! Simply place some fruit into the mold before freezing it so that when it comes out it looks like a fruit salad made from glass rather than plastic containers. Your 4-year-old will love eating his creation—it’s even healthier than Haagen Dazs!

Playing In The Sand Box

Sandboxes are a great way to have fun and get some exercise.

Sandboxes can be made indoors or outdoors, depending on your personal preference and the amount of room you have available.

If you want to make a sandbox indoors, you need.

  • A large tub or plastic storage container (a large storage bin works well) with no lid
  • Sand (about 15 bags should do it)
  • Water (1/2 cup per bag of sand)

Be Creative With Finger Paint

Making and storing finger paint is easy. You can make your own with a few simple ingredients, like cornstarch, water, and food coloring!

Finger painting is a great way for kids to express themselves creatively. It’s also an opportunity for them to work on fine motor skills and strengthen their hand muscles as they grip the brush or sponge.

When done properly, you should have enough time left over for some fun learning activities that will promote your child’s development in other areas of life (like science or math). This can be done by making a chart with pictures of the fruit and then asking him/her questions about it such as: What color are oranges?

How many seeds do they have? Can they be peeled easily? etc. For younger children (3 years old) we recommend using only black or brown paint so that there is no chance of any staining happening on clothes due to splashes!
