15 Stocking Craft For Kids

With Christmas coming up, it’s time to start thinking about stocking stuffers for the kids.

This is a list of 15 different homemade stocking ideas for kids that are easy to do and fun!

Pom Pom Stocking

This is a really fun stocking craft for kids that uses pom-poms to decorate the stocking.

You can use different colors of pom-poms for each section of the stocking, or make one big colorful pom-pom and sew it on your stocking!

The great thing about this idea is that it’s not just for kids—you can make a bunch of pom-poms and then decorate any present you want with them. You can even make a cute garland by hanging them from string or ribbon!

Santa’s Belt Stocking

This Santa stocking is another Christmas craft that is easy to make and comes out looking great.

It’s perfect for children who are just learning how to sew or those who may not have the patience for more complex projects.

The great thing about this stocking is it can be completed in one sitting, or over multiple sittings if you’re working with a child.

You will need.

1 piece of felt (cut into a rectangle)

2 pieces of ribbon (cut into strips)

Monster Stocking

You can make a monster stocking for your kids, your friends, your family, your colleagues, and your neighbors. It doesn’t matter if they are old or young. All you need is some wool and some ribbon to decorate the stocking. There are so many different ways you can personalize it to make sure that it stands out from the crowd and gets that much more attention.

Felt Animal Stocking

Felt is a great material for kids to work with. It’s easy to find at craft stores, and there are so many fun colors and patterns available that your kids will

have no problem finding one that they love.

Felt is also easy to cut, glue, sew, paint, or decorate in any way you can think of!

If you have an idea for a felt animal stocking but don’t know where to start, here’s a simple tutorial on how we made our own felt Christmas stockings (you can even make them as gifts).

Hand Print Santa Stocking

Print your child’s hands and feet on the paper. You can use the same red, white and green paint for this craft but make sure the color of your child’s hands and feet are not too light because Santa’s clothes are red and white.

Cut out a wide strip of red paper and glue it to the bottom part of the stocking vertically so that it covers all four corners at once (or you can just cut out a square piece of paper).

Let your little one paint his/her hand print with green paint in order to create Santa’s beard while you draw circles around each finger and thumb that will act as buttons on his jacket later on in this project!.

Winter Scene Stocking

  • Use a white stocking.
  • Draw a snowman on the stocking using a black marker or fabric paint.
  • Cut out three 2″x3″ pieces of red felt to make a scarf.
  • Cut out two 2″x3″ pieces of green felt for the hat and tie string on top of his head.
  • Use a yellow marker to draw a carrot in front of him, which he is holding in his hand with his thumb sticking up!

Gift box Stocking

You need a gift box, paper, and tape. Cut a square piece of paper that’s large enough to cover your gift box from top to bottom (a little shorter than the box) and wrap.

it around the outside of the box, taping it in place at the edges,

Now cut another strip for wrapping around each side of your gift box as well as for attaching on top of your paper garland – about 1 inch in width should be fine! Wrap one end over onto itself, then repeat this process with another piece until all four sides are covered with overlapping strips

To make sure everything stays put, use some double-sided tape to secure these pieces together

Handcrafted Felt Christmas Stockings

Felt is a fabric made from wool, fur, and other animal fibers. It’s soft and easy to work with, making it a great choice for children who want to make their own stockings.

In fact, you don’t even need to buy felt! You can easily use recycled materials (old sweaters, blankets) at home to craft your own felt stocking.

Felt doesn’t fray so you don’t have to worry about sewing edges together or quilting them down. Instead of sewing around the edges of each piece before assembling your stocking together, simply glue all your pieces together using a hot glue gun then cut off any excess fabric after drying overnight (if necessary).

This will make assembly much easier for younger children who may not be able to sew yet but still want something fun and personal that they made themselves with mommy or daddy’s help!

Reindeer and Antlers Stocking

Materials

  • cardboard
  • craft paint
  • foam or felt (as many pieces as you’d like)
  • glue gun and glue sticks (1 for each piece)

Directions

Lay out the cardboard, preferably on a table so you can move it around easily. If your child is old enough, have them help you draw circles on the cardboard about 1 inch in diameter. These will be the reindeer’s body parts and antlers.

You will need one circle per reindeer/antler pair that you create—so if you’re making five pairs of each animal, that’s ten circles total!

Once all of your circles are drawn out and cut out with sharp scissors or a box cutter blade (or both), set them aside because they’re not quite finished yet! Now we’ll go back to those little pieces of foam/felt we were talking about earlier.

Glue two strips of foam/felt together lengthwise so they form one long strip of each material with which we can make our reindeer bodies (two strips per animal). It should look like this when done correctly: So now it’s time for the fun part!

Glue down your antlers onto each head using a hot glue gun—again leaving room between each pair so that they aren’t touching each other when finished!

Wool Christmas Stockings

If you want to give your child an heirloom to be cherished for many years to come, this wool stocking craft is perfect!

Not only is it a fun activity, but it also teaches them about the Christmas story.

You will need:

  • Wool stocking template (available here)
  • Fabric glue (I used Aleene’s Tacky Glue)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil/eraser

Santa’s Beard Christmas Stocking

Materials needed.

  • Red, green, and white yarn
  • Black felt for beards
  • Santa’s Beard Christmas Stocks are great for keeping the little ones busy on a cold winter’s day.

They are fun to make and you can use different colored yarns to create a more festive look.* Steps to make it:

Lay the red, green, and white yarn out in the shape of a stocking on your work surface. Make sure that you leave sufficient space around each strand of yarn so that it isn’t too tight when you knit them together.

Gather up all three strands at one end so that they form an ‘X’ shape with no gaps between any strands or posts (where they cross over each other).

Thread through the needle using your sewing needle. Take the first stitch by passing the needle through the first post from front left to back right; pass the needle through the next post following the path shown above (from the front right to back left) in the same way as shown above but going further than before only stopping at the point marked ‘1’. Repeat this process until there are four stitches completed.* Repeat steps 1-3 until all four sides have been sewn together with 4 rows completed per side.

Once finished continue knitting the traditional stocking pattern without increasing stitches until the entire piece measures approximately 22 inches long from where the skein began when laid flat out across the tabletop etc.

When working smaller areas such as toes etc., continue decreasing until the desired size is reached then reduce the number of stitches evenly across the remaining part by decreasing two stitches every second row until the last row before finishing off work where appropriate so as not to lose tension within fabric when cutting off excess yarn from the beginning tail after the final row has been worked which ensures stocking does not unravel later down the line if subjected

Glittery Snowflake Cuff Stocking

To make this stocking, you will need to cut out the shape of a snowflake from a piece of felt. (You can find patterns for snowflakes online.)

Next, you’ll need to use a glue gun to stick the snowflake on top of your tights or stockings. Once dry, you can hang it up with pride!

Felt Penguin Stocking

Materials needed

  • Felt (black and white)
  • Pom for penguin’s head and feet

Instructions

Cut out the shape of a penguin (if you want to make your own, use this template). The bow can be white felt, but if you don’t want to cut any fabric pieces, just glue on some ribbon instead! Glue or sew the bow onto the front of your stocking.

If using ribbon instead of fabric, tie it around where you’d like it to sit and then glue it down in place when dry so it doesn’t move around as much during use in future years (this is an optional step).

Cut out three snowflakes from black felt and three from white felt; these will be glued inside each stocking as decoration after they’re filled with gifts later on!

They can also just be glued onto other areas where space might allow for one more decoration element without taking up too much room inside or getting tangled up in anything else stored there too often over time since this isn’t always visible all year long any way since most people hang their stockings up after Christmas is over each year before storing them somewhere safe until next December comes around again 🙂
