11 Cotton Craft For Kids

Cotton is a great material for kids to use when they’re making crafts.

It’s easy to work with and has multiple uses, so you can make all sorts of things with it! From mobile clouds to paperweights to beautiful garlands and more, your child will love these projects that use cotton in fun ways.

Cotton Craft DIY Cloud Mobile

Needed Materials.

  • Cotton balls (at least 6)
  • Clear thread or yarn
  • Basic Directions:

Thread the needle with the thread and knot one end of the thread. Leave a length of about an inch to sew with. Use a pen or pencil to trace two circles on each cotton ball for clouds, about 1″ apart from each other, and then cut out those shapes using scissors or a craft knife.

Don’t worry if everything isn’t perfect—these are just for looks! For best results, use a ruler when cutting out your cloud shapes so that they’re all evenly sized and roundish in shape. It’s pretty easy once you get going!

Tie one end of your thread onto the spool of clear sewing machine thread by wrapping it around once before tying it off; this will keep your cotton balls from falling off while you’re working (which would be very annoying).

You can also use regular old dental floss if you don’t have sewing machine thread handy; just make sure there’s enough space between each cloud so that they’ll hang properly when hung up on your mobile!

Cotton Craft DIY Cotton Wreath

You need cotton. What will YOU make?

  • You need a wreath form.
  • You can also add other materials like ribbons, buttons, or seashells.
  • You can make it any size you want!
  • You can make it any shape you want!
  • You can make it any color you want!

Cotton Craft DIY Paperweight

Materials.

  • fabric
  • yarn (optional)

Instructions.

Cut a square of fabric that’s about twice as large as your ball of yarn. Fold the square in half diagonally, then fold it again to create an even smaller square.

Attach the two squares together by sewing along the edges and making sure that both sides are open so you can turn them out later on. Sewing is optional—you can just cut one big piece of fabric, but this will be harder to work with because there will be no structure or shape to your paperweight at all!

If using yarn instead of fabric, wrap it around the center section three times and tie it off securely at the top (use a knot!). Then make another loop around the bottom section and tie off again; this time leave ends loose enough so they’ll stay tied together once it’s all finished up!
